Cairns

Up on the far northern Queensland coast is Cairns, a regional hub and vibrant town renowned for its close proximity to the iconic Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef. Millions of visitors arrive in Cairns every year to embark on day and overnight tours of the Great Barrier Reef. Cairns is also considered the gateway to Northern Queensland and many other iconic Australian attractions including the Whitsundays, Port Douglas and Daintree Rainforest. Cairns in itself is a popular travel destination for foreign tourists and domestic travellers due to its balmy tropical climate. Palm trees scattered across the town and the marina creates an eminence of an island holiday destination. The city is adorned with colourful lights and offers a multitude of dining and entertainment options. The renowned Cairns Night Markets, inspired by the open air markets in Hawaii and Asia, is located conveniently in town amongst other waterfront restaurants, bars and nightlife and great for picking up a good bargain.
Routes to Cairns are operated in conjunction with Queensland Government.
