Charleville

Located in Mulga Country on the Warrego River, Charleville has a fascinating history and is rich in Australian flora and fauna. Visitors can experience the town’s history on the Charleville Heritage, Flood and Fire Tour and on the Convoy World War II Secrets Tour. The Cosmos Centre provides an opportunity to view the Australian night sky close up and to discover its importance to the Aboriginal culture. Just by exploring the area a wide variety of Australian natives can be discovered. At the National Parks Research Station you can help support the ‘Save the Bilby Fund’ and join a 'meet the bilbies' tour. Nearby is a historic aviation monument marking the area where Sir Keith and Sir Ross Macpherson Smith, Australian aviation pioneering brothers, were forced to land with engine trouble in 1919. The flight was continued and the brothers became the first Australian pilots to fly from England to Australia in 30 consecutive days.
Routes to Charleville are operated in conjunction with Queensland Government.
