Mount Isa

Known as the Oasis of the Outback, Mount Isa is nestled among the splendid Selwyn Ranges right in the heart of North West Queensland. The city famous for the vast mineral resources and has grown from a frontier town into a thriving industrial and commercial centre with an increasingly cosmopolitan ambience. However, the rugged picturesque landscape had barely changed and is one of the main tourism draw-cards. The huge Mount Isa Mine, the world’s largest single producer of copper, silver, lead and zinc is still its main financial base. Bringing out the adventurous spirit within, one can find ample fishing spots, camping grounds, 4WD fun and then kick-back and relax while enjoying the outback sunset. The spectacular Lawn Hill Gorge in Moodjamulla National Park and the world-heritage listed Riversleigh Fossil Fields are must-visits and easily accessible from Mount Isa. Routes to Mount Isa are operated in conjunction with Queensland Government with the exception of direct services to Townsville.
