Rex economy class passengers have the option to sit back and relax by purchasing seats with Rextra Legroom. The improved legroom means you have more space to relax and stretch out, either before the start of, or at the very end of, a busy day and give yourself a treat.

How to Book Your Rextra Legroom

Rextra Legroom seats are available for purchase at a cost of $10 per seat per sector. Rextra Legroom is subject to availability.

Passengers can select and pay for Rextra Legroom when purchasing tickets online, through Web Check-in (Web Check-in must be completed between 48 hours and 60 minutes before the scheduled time of departure of your flight) or through the manage bookings section of our website.







Terms and Conditions for the sale of Rextra Legroom
  1. You must satisfy and agree to the Safety Prerequisites. If your Rextra Legroom seat is located in an emergency exit row, you will be relocated to another seat if our team identify at boarding that you have falsely declared your ability to comply with the Safety Prerequisites. Decisions made by our team are final and binding.
  2. Rex reserves the right to make changes to your Rextra Legroom seat allocation (including non-allocation of such seats) due to operational reasons. In cases where you are not given a Rextra Legroom seat in the alternative arrangement, the fee paid will be refunded to you. Please claim the refund in writing via the feedback form located on our website here.
  3. The Rextra Legroom fee will be forfeited if you:
    1. choose to change your flight on your own volition. You will need to pay for a new Rextra Legroom seat if you require such a seat for your new flight,
    2. fail to check-in or board your flight as scheduled, and/or
    3. do not satisfy the Safety Prerequisites if the Rextra Legroom seat is in an emergency exit row.
  4. Rextra Legroom is not available on flights operated by National Jet Express Dash-8-400 for Rex.


Please note that your rights under the Australian Consumer Law are not affected in any way by the stipulated Terms and Conditions for the sale of Rextra Legroom.
Safety Prerequisites for the Purchase of Rextra Legroom
Some Rextra Legroom seats are situated at the emergency exit row of the aircraft. The Civil Aviation and Safety Authority dictates that passengers seated at an emergency exit row must satisfy certain safety prerequisites. The safety prerequisites are that the passenger:
  • be willing & able to assist with the operation of the exit in the event of an emergency
  • be 15 years or older
  • be able to understand & acknowledge any instructions given by the Crew
  • be willing to assist the Crew and other passengers in the event of an emergency
  • not be travelling with an infant, child, special needs passenger or someone who needs your assistance in an emergency
  • not require the use of supplemental restraints (e.g. seatbelt extension)
  • not be more than 24 weeks pregnant
  • not be travelling with an escort, carer, guide dog or assistance animal
  • not have any condition or physical disability, which may prevent you from performing any of the duties as listed above. Some examples may include (but are not limited to):
    1. elderly – infirm or frail,
    2. medical condition – including those that require the use of supplemental oxygen,
    3. limited mobility – mobility aids or devices such as crutches, wheelchair, bandages, sling or controlled motion brace (e.g. moon boot),
    4. amputated or prosthetic limb.

If you do not satisfy all of the above conditions, you will not be eligible to sit in an emergency exit row seat. If you have purchased a Rextra seat and our team identify that you do not meet the requirements above, you will be re-seated at check-in or boarding and the associated fee will be forfeited. Decisions made by our team are final and binding. Rex reserves the right to relocate passengers to a different seat for operational reasons.
