Quilpie

Situated on the western bank of the Bulloo River, is the town Quilpie. Quilpie is known for the location of the Boulder Opal and only recently, the largest dinosaur fossil in Australia. Visitors can take a look at three opal shops in the town centre and the opal altar at St. Finbarr's Catholic Church. A public opal fossicking area is also located in Quilpie for those who are feeling lucky. Aviation enthusiasts can view the history of pilot Amy Johnson and her visit to Quilpie, at the Amy Johnson Terminal. Monthly exhibitions displaying local talent are also held at the Quilpie Museum & Visitor Centre. Nature walks and fishing at the Bulloo River are other popular activities in the town of Quilpie.
Routes to Quilpie are operated in conjunction with Queensland Government.
