Regional Express (Rex) today announces that it will almost double its flights in Western Australia with effect from Monday 6 July 2020. Rex will increase the number of weekly return services on the Albany and Esperance routes from four to eight weekly return services, and increase the number of weekly return services on the Carnarvon/Monkey Mia (Shark Bay) route from three to five weekly return services.

Regional Express (Rex) today announces that it will increase its flying schedule in response to QantasLink’s actions to more than double its flights to ports that are in competition with Rex.
From 6 July 2020, Rex will be providing daily weekday return services to these competitive routes and will also provide twice-daily return services on certain days in order to facilitate day-return travel.

Regional Express (Rex) has today signed a Commonwealth Grant Agreement under the COVID-19 Regional Airline Network Support (RANS) program announced by Deputy Prime Minister (DPM), the Hon Michael McCormack, on 28 March 2020.
Under the Grant Agreement, Rex will receive funding to operate 1-2 return services a week to most destinations on the Rex network.

Regional Express (Rex) today announces that an agreement has been reached with the Queensland Government for the provision of a reduced schedule under a variation of the existing service contract that covers the Northern 1 & 2 routes, the Western 1 & 2 routes and the Gulf route. Regional Express (Rex) is today grateful that the Hon Rita Saffioti MLA, Minister of Transport of Western Australia (WA) has decided to put in place an assistance package that would allow Rex to maintain a reduced schedule for the next three months.
On Monday 23 March 2020, Rex made a final plea to local, state and federal governments for critical assistance to maintain essential air services to regional communities.
A further announcement will be made next week giving full details of whether Rex will proceed to shut down the rest of its network.

Regional Express (Rex) flight ZL139 operating from Sydney to Merimbula, 29 August 2019, experienced a cockpit sensor alert associated with the aircraft’s right engine en route to Merimbula. In accordance with the manufacturer’s standard operating procedures, the flight crew conducted the applicable checklist actions which included an engine shut down. Upon completion of all the checklist actions, the cockpit sensor alert ceased. The aircraft landed safely and without any further incident at Merimbula airport at 8:42 pm.
