Rex believes that diversity is about recognising and valuing the contribution of all staff regardless of their differing backgrounds of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, culture, ethnicity and religion etc.

Therefore Rex will carry out all selection, recruitment, promotion and retrenchment strictly on objective criteria based on capabilities and suitability for the position without regard to the background of the individual where it is not relevant.

Rex believes that it is reverse discrimination to have in place policies that unfairly assist and advance the interests of any particular group. Hence Rex will not subscribe to an affirmative policy to simply fulfil a quota for a minority group.

Rex makes one exception to this rule for the indigenous people of the land. Where an indigenous person fulfils the minimum requirement of a position, they will have priority over any other non-indigenous persons who may be more qualified for the position.
