New Arrival Procedures for Rex Passengers at Adelaide Airport
Wednesday, June 28, 2006

Adelaide Airport Limited and Regional Express (Rex) have jointly announced new arrival procedures for Rex passengers that will take place effective 10 July 2006.

AAL Managing Director, Mr Phil Baker and Rex Managing Director Mr Geoff Breust said that arriving passengers would be bussed from the aircraft directly to the Rex Arrival Terminal, formerly the International Terminal Building (see attached map).

This would bypass the mandated security screening check on arrival (as passengers will not be passing through the secure concourse of the new terminal) and reduce walking distances.

With respect to baggage claims,

• Passengers disembarking in Adelaide are to collect their baggage from Rex Arrival Terminal.
• For onward connections to Rex or interline partners’ flights, passengers will proceed to T1 for check-in with their onward carrier and will have their baggage automatically transferred to the connecting carrier. A list of Rex interline partners is available on its website.
• Passengers transferring to other airlines, unless advised otherwise, will be required to collect their baggage from the ground floor baggage carousel in T1 before checking in with their onward carrier.

To ensure baggage is properly tagged for same-day onward connection, passengers must inform Rex at the time of booking and during check-in at the boarding port.

There will be a time-restricted pick-up zone opposite the Rex Arrival Terminal. Access to the car park, pay stations, taxis and car rental facilities will remain unchanged.

The changed procedures will remain in place until further notice. A brochure explaining the changes is available from Rex check-in counters upon request.

Mr Baker said further work was currently underway to improve the covered walkway on the aircraft apron, including drainage, windows and – once the bussing of inbound passengers commences – the removal of the centre divider required to separate in-bound and security cleared out-bound passengers.

The changes do not affect passengers of other airlines.

There will be no changes for departing Rex passengers who will check in at Level 2, T1 and board at Departure Gate 10.
