As the nation prepares for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Rex makes its own plans to host Australia’s ‘Highest’ Morning Tea to help fight against a disease that affects one in three Australians: Cancer.
On Thursday 25 May Rex will help raise money for the Cancer Council by placing donation boxes on all its flights to provide passengers the opportunity to contribute to the worthy cause.
“This is certainly not our first time to provide assistance. In the past, Rex staff have organised the Morning Tea within their respective offices, but 2006 marks the first year we are contributing on such a massive scale. The Board and Management felt that this year we should make a difference in a big way to garner even bigger results,” remarked Rex Managing Director Mr. Geoff Breust.
“We encourage passengers right around our network to dig deep into their pockets, knowing that the money raised will go directly toward research, treatment, education, prevention programs and support services for cancer patients and their families. All we ask is that each passenger donate from the heart and I’m sure it’ll amount to something great.”
“We carry over 3,000 passengers each day so we can really come up with a tidy sum of money through in-flight donations.”
Rex staff will simultaneously hold their own Morning Teas at regional centres and head offices, with the Board having offered to match dollar for dollar to increase the total funds raised.
“As an Australian regional airline with a proud heritage and a strong commitment to the communities we serve, we will continue to work with the Cancer Council in its long and arduous fight against this terrible disease,” concluded Mr. Breust.
Rex is Australia’s largest listed regional airline, operates over 1,100 flights each week to 30 destinations throughout South Eastern Australia and carries over a million passengers annually.
Rex operates a special corporate lounge facility at Sydney Airport Terminal T2 and at the new Adelaide Airport Domestic Terminal and also has its own Rex Flyer Program, which rewards frequent flyers by providing a free flight with every nine flown.
Bookings can be made online at www.rex.com.au or through the Customer Contact Centre on 13 17 13.
