In 2006 Regional Express (Rex) celebrates 20 years of service to the community of Port Lincoln. Rex continues to offer the high level of service to Port Lincoln and the surrounding region provided by its predecessor Kendell Airlines since it initiated flights to the region in 1986.
To commemorate the occasion and to thank the community of Port Lincoln for its commitment and support throughout the past two decades, Rex is offering fares between Port Lincoln and Adelaide from $65, holding a special boarding pass promotion and is proud to be a silver sponsor of the upcoming 2006 Tunarama Festival.
Rex Managing Director Geoff Breust said Rex and before it Kendell Airlines has a long history of providing reliable and quality air services to Port Lincoln and throughout South Australia and that the 20 year partnership resulted in passenger traffic and flight frequency not seen anywhere in regional Australia for a comparable destination.
“Our boarding pass promotion in particular is a way for Rex to support the regional community of Port Lincoln in return and promote regional air services. From 12 January until 31 March 2006 any Rex boarding pass to or from Port Lincoln earns the customer 20 Rex Dollars. With just three boarding passes customers can start redeeming at full face value from a full range of Rex products and services – from Rex Flyer/Lounge Memberships to Rex merchandise to money off their next Rex flight”.
“Furthermore we are delighted to be a silver sponsor of Regional South Australia's premier holiday event, the annual Tunarama Festival. We invite residents of Port Lincoln and visitors to the region to view one of the highlights of the festival - the Regional Express Street Procession. We have also arranged for special Rex Scenic Flights over the magnificent coastland, and a Regional Express Arts and Heritage Trail”.
Special Rex scenic flights will depart Port Lincoln Airport throughout 21 January. Tickets for the scenic flights are priced at an anniversary special of $20 per person. Those seeking a seat on a flight must book early to avoid disappointment by contacting the Rex Call Centre on 13 17 13 and making payment by credit card. All money raised from the sale of tickets will be donated to Port Lincoln RSPCA.
Rex operates six daily return services each weekday between Adelaide and Port Lincoln, three return services on Saturday and four on Sunday.
Rex is South Australia’s largest regional airline operating services to Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Mount Gambier, Ceduna, Olympic Dam, Coober Pedy, Kingscote and Broken Hill. Rex is also Australia’s largest listed regional airline operating over 1,000 flights weekly on 33 routes from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide with a fleet of 29 aircraft.
Rex recently listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and acquired a fifty percent shareholding in Pel-Air, a major overnight air freight and charter company based in Sydney and as well as a 100% stake in Dubbo based regional airline, Air Link.
