Rex Provides Christmas Treat for Country Hope Families
Friday, December 2, 2005

Regional Express (Rex) will pitch in and provide special flights for Country Hope children and their families at the annual Country Hope Family & Carers Christmas party on Sunday December 4 at the Temora Aviation Museum.

Families across the Riverina, as well as carers and supporters of Country Hope, will have the opportunity to fly the skies and experience the in-flight service and comfort of a Rex SAAB 340.

A special flight departing Wagga Wagga at 10.15am will whisk families to Temora where they will enjoy a memorable day full of fun activities for the kids. A scenic flight providing a spectacular bird’s eye view over Temora and a return flight to Wagga Wagga at the end of the day will see many children fly high.

Rex Managing Director Geoff Breust said “Country Hope provides a vital service to families whose children face the trauma of this terrible disease. In a small way Rex is proud to assist with Country Hope’s great work and in this instance provide the children and their families with some joy this Christmas.”

The Christmas party is one of Country Hope’s annual events organised for families with children diagnosed with cancer and similar illnesses. They children range in age from 4 to 15 years.

This year the Rotary Club of Temora has volunteered to coordinate the day, which will feature a visit to the Temora Aviation Museum, Rex joy flight, BBQ feast, games and of course a visit from Santa. The proceedings will commence at approx 11:00am and will conclude at 3:00pm.

In a show of great support a number of other organisations have generously donated their services to ensure the day’s success. Exxon Mobil will provide fuel for the Country Hope flights while Temora Aviation Museum will supply complimentary passes to the museum, a tour of the museum plus a covered BBQ facility for the kid’s games & Santa's arrival.

The Townhouse International in Wagga Wagga will guarantee the Rex crew rest well at the end of the day with the provision of guest rooms, and In-Flight Logistics Service will supply on-board treats. The Temora Council and the Wagga Wagga City Council have both agreed to waiver landing fees and passenger charges for Country Hope.

A special thank you must be extended to all the volunteers from Rex, the Temora Aviation Museum and the Rotary Club of Temora who will donate their time and effort on the ground and in the air too.

The Country Hope Board of Management expresses its sincere gratitude to all the sponsors and volunteers who have made this day possible.
