Last Boarding Call for Rex
Tuesday, December 28, 2004

Rex Managing Director Geoff Breust joins Rex Canberra staff today as they prepare for the final Rex flight ZL382 departing Canberra at 6.45pm tonight.
The farewell flight marks the end of almost nine years of service to the nation's capital, which started back in March 1996 under Kendell Airlines.

Mr Breust said it is a sad day for the Rex family in Canberra, whose unwavering loyalty and exemplary service had been an asset to the airline.

“Since we made the announcement to leave Canberra, I have been inundated with calls from our loyal customers who sing the praises of the Rex staff,” Mr Breust said.

“Many customers have expressed their dismay that we are to leave, citing the friendly service and professionalism of our Canberra staff.

“I thank these customers and I sincerely thank the wonderful staff at Canberra - Rex is the better for their commitment and customer focused approach.”

Mr Breust said the decision to leave the route had been an agonising one as Rex was well aware of its social responsibility in maintaining competition on the prime Sydney-Canberra route.

Staff and customers will gather in the Rex Lounge this evening to farewell the last flight.
