Rex Ranked World's Best Regional Carrier
Monday, July 27, 2009

Regional Express (Rex) has been ranked in top place in this year’s worldwide ranking by the prestigious Aviation Week and Space Technology on the world’s Top Performing Airlines. All airlines were examined for liquidity, financial health, earnings performance, asset utilisation and fuel cost management. Rex’s total score of 52 strongly surpassed the second-placed airline’s score of 38 and the remaining contenders on the top 9 list are all giants in American regional aviation such as SkyWest, Republic, Pinnacle and Mesa Air.

This year’s rankings of publicly-traded airlines identify companies that are best positioned to weather the current global recession and recent volatility in fuel prices.

Two years ago Rex was ranked world’s second best in the category of airlines with revenue below USD1 billion.

Regional Express (Rex) is Australia’s largest independent regional airline operating a fleet of 40 Saab 340 aircraft on more than 1,300 flights weekly to 24 destinations from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The Rex Group comprises Regional Express, air freight and charter operator Pel-Air Aviation and Dubbo-based charter operator Air Link, as well as the Australian Airline Pilot Academy.
