Regional Express Welcomes Moves by Major Airlines to Advertise Fully Inclusive Fares
Monday, May 2, 2005

Australia's largest independent regional airline Rex has welcomed the move by Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar to revert to advertising only fully inclusive fares. Rex was the only major Australian airline that did not follow Qantas' footsteps when the latter decided to advertise fares without taxes and levies.

"Regional Express believes that advertising the fully inclusive fare is the only way to provide a meaningful basis of comparison for the traveller especially as the levies may differ from airline to airline," Rex Managing Director Geoff Breust said.

"Rex also welcomes foreshadowed moves to amend the Trade Practices legislation to make the advertising of the fully inclusive fare compulsory."

Rex operates airline services to 29 regional and rural destinations from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Rex is also commencing new services between Sydney and Snowy Mountains Airport (Coooma) from 10 June 2005.
