Rex tops reliability for Australian airlines
Tuesday, August 12, 2008

In response to John Williams’ media release on one cancelled flight to Broken Hill, Lim Kim Hai Executive Chairman of Regional Express said that Mr Williams was abusing his position as an MP to make frivolous attacks on private companies.

“Cancellations do occur in air travel. Last Financial Year, Rex has had a six-fold increase of its cancellations due to the 50% attrition rate of its pilot ranks. However in spite of this, we still managed to have the second lowest cancellation rate among the major airlines. We are also the airline that has the best On Time Departure.”

“Rex is proud of the fine work we are doing in providing vital air services to regional Australia at a time when the fuel prices and the shortage of pilots render such services increasing unviable. Our fares are also lower than 6 years ago even with the $40 fuel levy included.”

“Our record speaks for itself and we will not be expending further energy in responding to Mr Williams antics.”

Rex is Australia’s largest independent regional airline operating a fleet of 38 Saab 340 aircraft on more than 1,200 flights weekly to 23 destinations from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The Rex Group comprises Regional Express, air freight and charter operator Pel-Air Aviation and Dubbo based regional airline Air Link, as well as the pilot academy Australian Airline Pilot Academy
