Future Rex and Air Link schedule changes at Dubbo have been explained by Regional Express (Rex).
The changes commence on 24 September 2007 for a six week period and involve the replacement of some current Air Link 19 seat services with Rex 34 seat SAAB services in the evenings. It also involves the re-scheduling of morning 19 seat services on some week days. Peak Sunday evening and Monday morning Air Link services will be retained. Rex and Air Link will be flying 83 flights a week during this period compared to the current 100 flights per week. However the change in seat capacity is small due to the upgrading of some services to a SAAB. Dubbo continues to have the highest frequency and seat availability of any regional centre in NSW and this will remain so following the schedule changes.
The change is part of Rex’s normal schedule review and was planned three weeks ago. As well as normal commercial considerations these changes have been prompted in part by Air Link training requirements for new pilots which are currently under way and by some scheduled maintenance requirements on one of the two Air Link Beech 1900 aircraft.
Rex operates a fleet of 34 Saab 340 aircraft on 1,300 flights weekly to 25 destinations from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
