Rex Adds Flights On Adelaide - Mount Gambier Route
Tuesday, June 5, 2007

Following its announcement of the new Griffith-Melbourne route, Regional Express (Rex) has also announced improvements to its Adelaide – Mount Gambier service with the introduction of early morning and late evening flights from Adelaide starting Monday 2 July 2007.

The two new return flights each weekday depart Adelaide at 6.55 am and return from Mount Gambier at 8.25am. The evening flights depart Adelaide at 5.20pm and return from Mount Gambier at 6.50pm (see attached schedule). The schedule is designed to provide more seating at peak times and provide Adelaide based customers a longer day in Mount Gambier.

Rex’s Managing Director, Geoff Breust said that the new schedule was all about providing extra convenience for travellers.

“Our customers have indicated that an earlier departure from and later return to Adelaide was needed to improve services to the south eastern region. In line with Rex’s approach right across our network, we have increased seating capacity and flight frequency as the markets grow and passenger numbers increase.

“We believe these new flights and timings will assist the State Government in providing greater coverage of services and likewise assist business in better serving the region also,” Mr Breust said.

Rex flights will now cross each morning and evening with an eastbound aircraft passing a westbound aircraft in flight. While a middle of the day service operated currently will cease some days, the new schedule increases Rex services from four to five return between Adelaide and Mount Gambier Monday to Thursday and six return on Fridays adding more seats at peak times. Rex fares for travel Adelaide – Mount Gambier and Melbourne – Mount Gambier start from $115.00 for bookings made via the web.

Rex is Australia’s largest independent regional airline operating a fleet of 31 Saab 340 aircraft on 1,300 flights weekly to 33 destinations from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. It recently announced the acquisition of 25 latest generation Saab 340B Plus aircraft to be delivered over the next three years for fleet replacement and network expansion.
