Rex Applauds Enroute Charges Rebate Scheme
Wednesday, May 9, 2007

Australia’s largest regional airline, Regional Express (Rex), has applauded the Federal Government’s decision to assist regional air services by continuing the Enroute Charges Rebate scheme for another four years as announced in the Budget by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport and Regional Services, the Hon Mark Vaile MP.

“The rebate provides an effective environment whereby air services to regional communities can grow and develop,” Rex’s Managing Director, Geoff Breust said.

“Effective and affordable air services are vital to regional communities. They provide access to a whole range of services which city folk take for granted. They bring health and medical services, a whole range of government and community services and they provide the basis for economic growth.

“Extending the rebate scheme for four years provides certainty and will enable fares to remain affordable for regional travellers. It will also mean that operators can plan ahead with confidence for the development of the services they offer as well as looking at new services to communities who need them.

“On behalf of all the regional communities across our network we thank the Federal Government for its foresight and recognition of the role regional air services play in Australia,” Mr Breust said.
