MILDURA GETS DAY RETURN TO SYDNEY
28 January 2005
Regional Express (Rex) Australia’s largest independent regional airline, announced today it will begin a day return service between Mildura and Sydney on Feb 28.
The new service will allow Mildura people a full business day in Sydney, where previously they would have had to stay overnight or travel the long way round via Melbourne.
Rex Managing Director Geoff Breust, who was in Mildura to launch the new flights, said it was a service local business people and the community generally had identified.
“I am delighted to announce this daily return service for it epitomises what Rex is all about – connecting regional communities with the city” Mr Breust said
Rex’s new service will see its aircraft overnight at Mildura departing at 6.40am arriving in Sydney at 9.15am. The return service departs Sydney at 5.50pm arriving in Mildura at 8.25pm.
All services are operated via Narrandera in New South Wales which also gives access to the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area.
The 12 new flights per week will be serviced by the Saab 340 and include complimentary light refreshments. Rex’s fares through to Sydney are also very attractive staring from $170 fully inclusive of all taxes.
Rex will have two Saab aircraft on the tarmac Sunday to Friday servicing both the Sydney and Melbourne markets with early departures.
With the addition of our newest port, West Wyalong in February – Rex will fly more than 1,000 times a week to 30 destinations throughout New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
