Vaile Promotes Taree Air Service
Friday, April 27, 2007

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport and Regional Services, Mark Vaile, today encouraged residents of the Manning Valley to support the new air services provided by Regional Express airlines.

Rex will host a special Family Open Day this Saturday 28 April at Taree Airport, marking three months since the carrier started operations in the Manning Valley.

The day will feature scenic flights and other entertainment with all proceeds going to the Taree Volunteer Rescue Association to purchase vital equipment used in its rescue missions.

“Rex is a well-established and successful airline that flies to 34 destinations through its network in New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. It operates 36 weekly flights between Taree and Sydney which provides up to 63,000 seats per year,” Mr Vaile said.

“The Australian Government is proud to support regional airlines like Rex by subsidising their enroute air traffic control charges, because we know that people who live in regional Australia need to have easy access to our major cities.

“I want to congratulate both Regional Express and Greater Taree City Council on forming a partnership and investing in the long term growth of air passenger operations into and out of the Manning Valley,” Mr Vaile said.
