I would like to congratulate Rex on their philanthropic gift this Christmas of $1 million in travel to help those affected by the current drought.
I understand the response to last year’s $500,000 drought relief program was overwhelming and full credit to Rex for not only offering the program again, but doubling the assistance available.
I realise that during a time of drought many farmers are reluctant or unable to leave their property due to stock feeding commitments, but to those who have the chance I urge them to take it.
While Rex has deservedly paid tribute to the various organisations they have worked with to develop the program, I would like to recognise the efforts of Ms Katrina Hodgkinson MP, NSW Member for Burrinjuck.
Katrina has been a tireless supporter of initiatives to ease the mental health burden on communities hit by drought and I have appreciated her guidance on this issue also.
