Wednesday, February 22, 2006

Regional Express (Rex) has increased its schedule of flights between Adelaide and Port Lincoln with an additional two return services each week, one on Sunday and one Friday.

From Sunday 26 February 2006 an additional Rex Saab service will depart Adelaide at 1:10 pm arriving in Port Lincoln at 2:00 pm and returning to Adelaide at 2:20 pm arriving at 3:05 pm.

From Friday 3 March 2006 an additional Rex Saab service will depart Adelaide at 6:50 pm arriving in Port Lincoln at 7:40 pm and returning to Adelaide at 8:00 pm arriving at 8:45 pm.
The new services means Rex now operates six daily return services between Adelaide and Port Lincoln Monday to Thursday, seven return services Friday, three return services Saturday and five return services Sunday – a total of 39 return flights per week.
“Rex has increased capacity and frequency on Port Lincoln to cater for strong demand and to improve our schedule timings” said Geoff Breust, Managing Director.

“Our strategy of combining affordable fares with quality services has provided the catalyst for substantial passenger growth in all our markets, including Port Lincoln. It wasn’t that long ago that Port Lincoln received only 25 return services weekly”, Mr Breust said.

“Rex’s strategy has provided both economic and social benefits to regional South Australia”.

“Rex remains committed to achieving proper facilities for regional South Australia travellers at the new Adelaide Airport terminal and we are working closely with Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) on the solutions we have identified. We are very hopeful that AAL will announce details of the new arrangements in the coming two weeks”.
Rex is South Australia’s largest regional airline operating services to Port Lincoln, Whyalla, Mount Gambier, Ceduna, Olympic Dam, Coober Pedy, Kingscote and Broken Hill. Rex is also Australia’s largest listed regional airline operating over 1,100 flights weekly on 33 routes from Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide with a fleet of 29 aircraft.
Fares between Adelaide and Port Lincoln start from as low as $94.00 one way. Bookings can be made be contacting Rex directly through its Customer Contact Centre on 13 17 13 or through its website on www.rex.com.au.

Rex recently opened a special corporate lounge facility at the new Adelaide Airport Domestic Terminal. Members to the lounge can sample the fine food and wine supplied by Boston Bay Wines while enjoying state-of-the-art High-Definition television on the Panasonic Viera Plasma Screen. The lounge is set up as a wireless hotspot; meaning business travellers are able to remotely check emails and access the internet at broadband speeds using wifi-enabled laptops or handheld devices. Membership can be secured via the Rex website.
